This project involved the design of 7,000lf of 16-inch force main, 1,500lf of 16-inch-diameter directional drill under the San Gabriel River and 4,000lf of 21-inch diameter gravity line. Designed to provide service to the 100-acre, 800,000sf open air mall project located on the bank of the San Gabriel River, they connect the mall to the existing City infrastructure and treatment plant. Crossing the San Gabriel River without disturbing the river or the environmentally sensitive area of the Edwards Aquifer was accomplished by directionally drilling under the river. The jack and bore allowed the City to keep a major intersection along IH-35 open without any disruption in traffic flow.
