Shops at Arbor Trails is a 70-acre retail development in southwest Austin located at the southwest corner of Mopac and William Cannon. The shopping center is anchored by Costco, Whole Foods, Havertys Furniture and Staples. Pad lot tenants include Chuy's, Cheddar's, Jared's Jewelry, Wells Fargo, and Capital One. The development included the construction of a retention/reirrigation pond and a dry detention pond to protect the environmentally sensitive Barton Creek Watershed. Through negotiations with the Oak Hill Neighborhood Group, the developer agreed to construct only 43% impervious cover to minimize the impact on the environment. The project has over 2 ½ miles of hike/bike trails, including an exterior loop along William Cannon, Mopac and Brush Country. Benches and pagodas were placed throughout the trail system for public use. This project was awarded Best Retail Project in 2008 and 2011 by the Austin Business Journal Commercial Real Estate Awards.
