A master plan was developed for the Port Aransas Nature Preserve, which focused on preserving the natural character of the site while developing creative ways to allow visitors to explore the ever-changing landscape. Observation towers provided a new perspective to the area, while boardwalks and multi-use trails allowed access to many remote areas on the preserve. This project received a 2011 Merit Award from the Texas ASLA Chapter in the "Design–Constructed–Public" category.
