HEB hired Bury to provide civil engineering and surveying services for their Montrose Market, the first of the chain's stores to include an outside market area and a patio for movies and live music. HEB engaged the neighborhood for their input on architecture, landscaping, noise, traffic flow and lighting, and, in response, developed this 78,000sf store at its center. The unique nature of the project gained it much local publicity.
Engineering services included public utility plans, private utility plans, street pavement widening, sanitary sewer line re-routing, public storm sewer extension, traffic pattern analysis, traffic control plan, SWPPP and construction phase services. The project also required an eco-friendly civil design in order to save a number of large oak trees on site. The project is currently seeking LEED Silver certification.
Survey services provided by Bury included the original surveys (ALTA, land title and topographic) and a tree survey. We provided plat recordation at the City of Houston that involved joint referral, a variance request and re-platting of the project site.
HEB Montrose Market won the 2013 ULI Development of Distinction award in the "For-Profit" category, as well as the "People's Choice" Award.
