The City of Austin invited its residents to City Hall last Tuesday evening for a sneak peak of the proposed renderings for the redevelopment of Seaholm District. The former industrial section of downtown aims to evolve into a thriving urban neighborhood similar to its surrounding neighbors while preserving a key piece of the city’s past .
The district surrounds the historic Seaholm Power Plant, which is located near the shores of Lady Bird Lake. It was built in 1954, but has been dormant now for several years. The plant will serve as a landmark to the redevelopment.
The development package also includes the construction of a high-rise 298-unit residential tower, the construction of a new 70,000sf building ground floor retail and second-story residential lofts above, and a new central public library.
Bury has been working closely with sister company, HS&A Project Management, and a team of other world-class professionals who comprise the development team.
